Griswold earns four individual titles at state meet

Sammamish Totems sophomore Sydney Griswold completely dominated the Class 3A state gymnastics meet. Griswold captured first place individual championships in Vault (9.750), Floor (9.725), Beam (9.525) and Bars (9.625).

SWIMMING

Bellevue earns third place at Class 3A state swim meet

The Bellevue Wolverines registered a third place finish at the Class 3A state swim and dive championships, compiling a total of 172.5 team points on Feb. 17 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Bellevue senior Nathan Shao earned first place in the 50 yard free with a time of 21.08. Wolverines’ senior Andrew Boden captured second place in the 100 yard free with a time of 46.77.

Newport captures seventh place at Class 4A state swim meet

The Newport Knights boys swim squad compiled 148 team points en route to a seventh place at the Class 4A state swim and dive championships on Feb. 17 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Newport freshman Kevin Kyi captured second place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.06.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wolverines lose to Garfield, will compete in regional playoffs

The Garfield Bulldogs defeated the Bellevue Wolverines 44-40 in the third/fourth place game at the Class 3A SeaKing district II girls basketball tournament on Feb. 17 at Bellevue College. The Wolverines will face Kelso at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 at Bellevue College in a winner-to-state, loser-out regional playoff game.

Vikings will face Warriors with berth at state tournament on the line

The Bellevue Christian Vikings will play the Cle Elum-Roslyn Warriors at 12 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Ellensburg High School in a winner-to-state, loser-out regional playoff game.
