Sometimes the mountain is insurmountable.

Sometimes the mountain is insurmountable.

That was the case for Eastside Catholic, who scored five runs in the final two innings but saw its season end despite the comeback bid, as the Crusaders lost 8-6 to Liberty on May 15.

Eastside Catholic (14-8) trailed 3-0 early in the loser-out first-round game in the SeaKing District tournament, as the Patriots scored two in the first inning and one in the third.

Liberty, led by Montessa Califano with two runs scored and three RBI, scored twice more in the fifth and three times in the bottom of the sixth.

The Crusaders rallied to score four times in the seventh and final inning but could not overcome the Patriots, who qualified for one of the districts four state berths.
