The Toronto Blue Jays have called up left-handed pitcher Rommie Lewis, making Lewis the eighth Newport alum to reach the Major Leagues since the school opened in 1964.

Lewis, 27, was 0-1 with a 2.35 ERA in 7.2 innings this season with Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League before the call-up.

The Blue Jays will travel to Seattle to play the Mariners in quick two-game series May 19-20.
