Ashley Blake, who helped lead Lakes High School to a fourth-place finish in state last season, has been hired as Sammamish High School’s girls basketball coach.
Sammamish High School athletic director Pat McCarthy announced Blake’s hiring last week. Blake will take over for recently-resigned Alan Guffey, who finished 1-19 in his first season as Sammamish’s head coach.
Blake comes to Sammamish after helping the Lancers of of Lakewood finish with a 24-2 record last season. Blake, a 2003 graduate of Lakes, was a four-year varsity starter, a four-year 1st-team All-conference performer and the 2003 Class 3A State Player of the Year.
Blake played basketball at Central Washington University and was a three-year recipient of the Most Valuable Defensive Player award for the Wildcats.
