Bellevue boys, girls basketball teams headed to 3A state quarterfinals, Newport girls fall | Prep basketball news

Bellevue's boys and girls basketball teams are headed to the Tacoma Dome and 3A state quarterfinals next week, after posting Regional round wins, while Newport saw its season come to an end in Longview in Class 4A.

The Wolverines outlasted Lincoln 60-55 in Tacoma on the boys side to get back to Tacoma for the first time in three seasons, and will face Stanwood at 12:15 p.m. March 6.

The girls beat Kennedy Catholic 69-52 at Bellevue College Saturday afternoon, and are in the 3A quarterfinals for a second straight season.

Sunnyside will be their quarterfinal opponent at 5:30 p.m. March 6 in the Tacoma Dome.

Newport was unable to get past Skyview, falling 62-31 at Mark Morris High School in the 4A Regional round.
