Bellevue girls third at state tournament | Prep sports news
The first state tournament appearance in school history ended with a third place finish for the Bellevue girls soccer team, which won the third-place match 2-1 over Seattle Prep after falling to Kamiakin by the same score a day prior.
Lillie French put her team up 1-0 in the second half against the Braves before a pair of Kamiakin goals, the second in the final minute, gave them the win.
Clarice Bruch scored on an Alexis Johnson assist to give the Wolverines the advantage against Prep, and Johnson found Sabrina Mohazzabfar in the second half for the game-winner.
After a loss to Mercer Island in the final game of the regular season, Bellevue won five of six during the postseason to win the KingCo title for the first time in program history and reach the state semi-finals.
Only four players graduating from the squad in Bruch, Isabelle Butterfield, Johnson and Sierra Sublett, and head coach Scott Smith will welcome back 11 freshman and sophomores in 2014.
