Interlake's Liu, Groenhout lead locals at AJGA event | Prep sports news

A pair of Interlake golfers led Bellevue-area finishers at the Ryan Moore Junior Championship at RMG Club at Oakbrook in Lakewood, as Andy Liu shot 70-75-73-218 to finish in a tie for 26th place on the boys side and Aleana Groenhout finished with a 76-85-75-236 to end the tournament in 16th among the girls.

The three-day event, sponsored by the Puyallup native and PGA Tour pro Moore, is the only stop in Washington for the AJGA in 2013. Juanita's Frank Garber, the back-to-back 3A state champion for the boys during the high school season, took the boys title with a 68-71-67-206 and Eastlake sophomore-to-be Ashley Fitzgibbons won among the girls with a 69-69-69-207.

Eugene Wackerbarth, a rising senior at Seattle Prep and Clyde Hill resident, shot 72-71-76-219 to finish 30th.
