Bellevue opens title defense with win

Bellevue kicked off the 2013 lacrosse season and its state title defense on Friday with a 14-8 win over Bainbridge behind six goals and a pair of assists from Cole Johnson.

The Wolverines built a 7-2 lead at halftime and held on down the stretch as Will Penner added three goals to go with two each for Hank Behtke and Dakota Jones.

Prep beats Sammamish

Sammamish opened the season with a loss to Seattle Prep despite a pair of goals from Stuart Southerland.

Michael Calibosos had a goal for Sammamish and Morgan White had 10 saves in the loss.
