Bellevue grad lifts collegiate team past ND
Connor Foreman, a 2012 Bellevue High School graduate, made his first collegiate start on the diamond for Rhode Island in its game against nationally ranked Notre Dame and made the most of his opportunity.
Foreman drove in the eventual game-winning run for the Rams to cap a 2-4 day at the plate, helping his team over the Irish.
Newport's Lilley goes 4-1 on court
Chris Lilley, who helped Newport to the boys team scoring title at the 4A state tennis championships last season, earned Athlete of the Week honors at George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. after a 4-1 week.
Lilley was the only member of his team to pick up a win against Whitman, a nationally ranked foe, and also won a two-plus hour marathon singles match to push his record to 5-1 on the year. In the number one doubles slot, Lilley and a teammate are 3-4.
Wiper gets first start in Oregon win
2011 Newport grad Cole Wiper got his first collegiate start on the mound Monday for the University of Oregon baseball team after a redshirt season in 2012.
The former All-KingCo first team selection did not get a decision in his team's 12-4 win over Cal State Northridge.
