Sammamish played host to district gymnastics meets and saw a pair of local athletes record top performances.

Candace Ho won the all-around, bars, beam and floor competitions for Newport at Saturday's district gymnastics meet and will lead the Knights to the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall for this weekend's state championships.

Newport finished second in the team scoring and will hope to top KingCo rival Woodinville, among others after the 4A state crown.

In the 3A/2A competition, Sammamish's Nykaela Dodson stole the show with wins in the all-around, bars and beam to help the Totems to a second place team finish behind district champ Mount Si.

Ayane Rossano and Michelle Louis also earned a trip to the state competition for the Wolverines in the all-around.

The state gymnastics meet begins on Friday at 9 a.m. with the 4A meet and finishes with the 1A/2A/3A finalist announcement and draw.
