Bellevue hoops squads set for postseason tourneys | Prep sports news

Boys basketball

Bellevue dropped Interlake from the 3A KingCo boys basketball tournament with an 87-49 win and moves on to face Mount Si on Tuesday at Bellevue College in a 3 p.m. tip.

The Wolverines lost both regular season matchups with the Wildcats and with a win move into the tournament title game on Thursday. All four remaining teams have already secured a berth in the Sea-King District tournament.

Newport will be tasked with handling 18-2 Bothell in the opening round of the 4A KingCo boys basketball tournament after dropping a 68-56 game with the Cougars to close the regular season.

Girls basketball

Interlake took down Mercer Island 47-28 in a first round game in the 3A KingCo girls basketball tournament to advance to Tuesday's second round against Juanita. The Saints and Rebels will meet at Bellevue College in a 4:45 p.m. tip for a spot in the conference title game. The win was the first of the year in the conference for Interlake.

Bellevue had an opening round bye and will play Liberty in the late game at BC on Tuesday. All four remaining teams have already secured spots into the Sea-King District tournament.

Eastlake will host Newport in a first round game on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the 4A KingCo girls basketball tournament.
