I appreciated Walter Backstrom’s thoughtful article of Aug. 20 about using the N-word.

History has proven time and again the pen is mightier than the sword in swaying public opinion. Salient among our freedoms is our freedom of speech.

Please continue to let your voice be heard, Mr. Backstrom.
