(1931 – 2008)

Anne Strodel, wife, mother, nurse, volunteer and longtime resident of Bellevue/Issaquah, passed away on Wednesday, September 3rd at the age of 77. She was born in Philadelphia on August 7, 1931 to George & Charlotte Marsh. She graduated high school from St. Joseph’s in Schenectady, NY and went on to get her RN nursing degree from Philadelphia General Hospital. She married Don Strodel in Scotia, NY on September 26, 1952, moving to Seattle and settling in Bellevue in 1954. In 1968 a Boeing transfer to Wilmington, DE enabled them to experience the east coast and make many treasured friendships. They returned to Bellevue in 1979, where they rekindled old relationships while making new ones. Anne moved to Providence Point, Issaquah in 1994, where her final chapter surrounded her with a close community of new and old family.Anne was happiest helping others and was a leader in numerous organizations. A past Girl Scout leader and Red Cross volunteer, Anne was most currently active with Providence Marianwood, Overlake Hospital and Sacred Heart Church. Anne’s favorite activities were spending time with her family, friends and her close volunteer community. She enjoyed her travels, times at the beach, her morning crossword puzzles and her evening scotch. Anne was always there for you, she was our rock and she will be deeply missed.She shared 50 years together with Don Strodel, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2003. She is survived by her children, Don H. Strodel of Bellevue, Greg Strodel of Carnation, his wife Sharon and their children Christopher, Alyssa and Cara; Peggy Curtin of Valencia, CA, her husband Nick and their children Kevin, Brian and Collin; Scott Strodel of Bellevue and his wife Toni.Memorial services will be Friday, September 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 9640 NE 14th St. in Bellevue. There will be visitation hours on Thursday, September 11th from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. (with a Rosary @ 7:00 pm) at Sunset Hill’s Chapel, 1215 145th Place SE, Bellevue.In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Anne’s name to Providence Marianwood Nursing Home, 3725 Providence Pt.
