Temple B’nai Torah in Bellevue has moved forward with permitting for Tent City 4 and has been approved by the city of Bellevue with conditions for the temporary homeless encampment.

The initial application was to install the encampment on the temple’s property on June 6 and was intended to remain there until Sept. 25.

This will be the fifth time that Temple B’nail Torah has hosted Tent City 4, most recently from May to August 2014. Tent City 4 had a permit to stay at Mary Queen of Peace in Sammamish until June 6.

The permit would allow no more than 100 men and women on the 3-acre property.

It wasn’t until July 7 that Bellevue gave a determination of non-significance for the encampment, meaning that “this proposal does not have a probably significant adverse impact upon the environment.”

Opponents will have until July 28 to appeal the decision to the Superior Court. Only those who had submitted written comments before the detrmination of non-significance will be able to appeal the determination.

Temple B’nai Torah is located at 15727 NE Fourth St. in Bellevue.
