A Seattle man has been charged with molesting three Bellevue children, having operated under the guise of giving them private art lessons.

Telman Karimov, 64, has been charged in King County Superior Court with two counts of first degree child molestation.

Police learned of the allegations in March when Child Protective Services notified them of an allegation made by the parent of the youngest victim. Investigators learned that Karimov was giving private art lessons to the three victims, who were 4, 9, and 11 years old at the time, at a private facility in Bellevue.

He allegedly molested the younger two girls on multiple occasions between May 2014 and March 2016. Police found probable cause that he molested the eldest victim as well.

Karimov was arrested on Oct. 17, and the police investigation is ongoing. If convicted, the standard sentencing range is 67 to 89 months in jail, but could go up to an indeterminate maximum of life in prison, according to the prosecutor’s office.

A letter has been sent to parents of children that Karimov has taught in the past, informing them of these allegations. Any parents who believe that their children may have been victimized by Karimov are being asked to contact Bellevue Police Detective Trizuto at 425-452-2819.
