Bellevue police have arrested a 55-year-old postal worker believed to have intentionally struck a pedestrian outside Phantom Lake Elementary School Friday morning.

At 11:15 a.m., police responded to 160th Avenue Southeast for the reported assault.

The unidentified victim — who was uninjured following the incident — told police that the postal worker had been seen yelling obscenities at another citizen. The victim made an attempt to photograph the suspect’s US Postal Service vehicle to make a complaint.

The suspect allegedly put the vehicle in drive and struck the victim’s leg three times. The victim reported the suspect was “laughing hysterically” as she did this.

Upon booking at the Bellevue Police Department, the postal worker — a Newcastle resident — was interviewed by Bellevue police and U.S. Postal Inspectors.
