Parasol party raises money for a cause

The whimsical romance of lush gardens mixed with summer air was brought to life at The Parasol Party on June 12 at Marymoor Park’s Clise Mansion.

Colorful parasols lined the front porch as guests entered the girls’ night out event. The parasols were available for sale, with proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association and the Red Dress campaign.

A representative from the American Heart Association was on hand to raise awareness and answer questions about cardiovascular disease, the leading killer of women in Washington. The Heart Association encourages a healthy lifestyle and gives useful exercise and diet tips on their website at www.americanheart.org.

Produced by Courtney Russell of Half Past Lavish Productions, the parasol-themed event included a room of shopping featuring local vendors including LUSH, Party Girl Aprons, Scentsy Candles, Sandy Martino Jewelry, Bella Umbrella, The Bathery, and Spa for Women. Complimentary mini massages with Bellevue Massage were available as well as nail polish changes with Julep Nail Parlor and hand massages with Mary Kay gals. Guests sipped on drinks courtesy of DRY Soda, and ate sweet treats by Poco Carretto Gelato, Wink! cupcakes, and Amore truffles.

The event concluded with a fashion show by local designer Kimberlee Iblings of Deco Modiste and designer Pandora Neiland of Party Girl Aprons, www.partygirlaprons.com.

Sponsors of the Parasol Party included Seattle Picks, Bella Umbrella, DRY Soda, and Brick House Photography.
