Overlake to expand with new urgent and primary care clinics

Overlake will open its sixth urgent care clinic and 11th primary care clinic on the Eastside.

Overlake Medical Center and Clinics recently announced an expansion into Newcastle with its sixth urgent care clinic and 11th primary care clinic on the Eastside

The organization will celebrate the newest clinics, located in the Newcastle Commons on Coal Creek Parkway, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community open house on April 27. The celebration will be from 9 a.m. to noon before the clinics’ official opening on April 29.

“After going nearly two years without an urgent care clinic, Overlake is stepping up to bring this critical medical option back to Newcastle, offering peace of mind to all who might require sudden, immediate attention,” Newcastle city manager Rob Wyman said.

The Issaquah School District is one of two districts that serve Newcastle residents. The city, located south of Bellevue, is home to more than 12,000 residents. About 4,000 Newcastle residents sought care at Overlake clinics over the past five years, according to Overlake.

Overlake spokesperson Hilary Benson said the celebration will include a performance by the Newcastle drum line, appearances from city officials and family activities.

“We strive to provide the highest-quality, affordable healthcare at locations that are most convenient for our patients,” Overlake CEO J. Michael Marsh said. “We look forward to forging even deeper ties with Newcastle’s families and supporting this healthy, growing community.”

Overlake, a Bellevue-based nonprofit regional healthcare system, serves Eastsiders in Bellevue, Issaquah, Lake Hills, Redmond and Sammamish.

As Overlake celebrates in Newcastle, it continues the $250 million Project FutureCare which will expand and upgrade the Bellevue hospital. Construction is ongoing and will be completed in three phases.

Phase one constructs two new cardiac operating rooms that will support future advancements. Phase two will see the completion of a new tower with an integrated childbirth center, modern patient rooms and equipment. Phase three will expand the mental health care operation with a new space for the inpatient mental health unit upgraded counseling and treatment rooms with space for further expansion.

Work crews aim to finish all three phases by 2o22 ahead of the East Link expansion.
