More housing in the works for Factoria

The 65-unit Basel Newport Townhouse project is moving through the city’s permitting process.

More residential development has been proposed in Bellevue’s Factoria neighborhood as the 65-unit Basel Newport Townhouse project moves through the city’s permitting process.

The project, located at 12627 Coal Creek Parkway near the Interstate 405 interchange, would build the units spread out over 10 buildings on 5 acres of land. It would include 3,700 square feet of open space and would generate around 41 new vehicle trips during the weekday evening rush hour, city documents said. The original proposal was for 75 townhouses which was subsequently scaled back.

The Basel Newport Townhouse project comes as another, larger development proposed at the Factoria Mall by Kimco Realty promises to reshape the neighborhood. The Factoria Mall owners submitted an application to redevelop the mall and build 685 housing units as well as adding 151,000 square feet to the 526,000-square-foot Factoria Mall.

More than 1,000 people are expected to live in the Factoria Mall development when it is completely built out. Construction could begin as early as next spring.
