Elderly Bellevue woman dead after car crash

An elderly Bellevue woman died after being struck by a driver in Downtown Bellevue Wednesday evening.

An elderly Bellevue woman died after being struck by a driver in Downtown Bellevue Wednesday evening.

Bellevue Police bicycle officers were alerted to a car versus pedestrian collision at Bellevue Way and Northeast 2nd Street around 5 p.m. on Oct. 5. The victim — who has not been publicly identified and was 75-years-old — was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Bellevue firefighters. She later died as a result of her injuries.

The driver, a 19-year-old Renton resident, remained at the scene and is being interviewed by investigators. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash at press time.

Southbound Bellevue Way will was closed between Northeast 2nd and Main Streets Wednesday evening as officers investigated the crash.
