Bellevue husky reunited with owner thanks to pet license

Police department reminds residents of dog tag requirement

On Friday, Nov. 30, Bellevue Police responded to a report of a loose dog in the parking lot of the Crossroads Mall in Bellevue. When an officer arrived, he located a friendly female husky that jumped in the back of his car.

The dog, Zoey, was eventually returned to her owner in Bellevue because she had a pet license.

The dog had a license tag on so the officer initially tried to call the owner but didn’t reach him. The officer passed the contact information along to dispatch for follow-up and took the dog to Alpine Animal Hospital in Issaquah, where the Bellevue police take dogs that are lost but not injured. Dispatch notified regional animal control services of King County, and that agency tracked down the owner through the dog’s license. They reached the owner who was subsequently reunited with his dog.

The Bellevue Police Department is reminding residents that pets must be licensed. To license a pet, go online to the website for Regional Animal Services of King County.
