BAM curator to join Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery

Nora Atkinson, who has been with the Bellevue Arts Museum since 2006, will begin her new position in D.C. this March.

Bellevue Arts Museum curator Nora Atkinson has been appointed to the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery, according to a Thursday announcement from the BAM.

The Renwick Gallery is the Smithsonian branch which handles American crafts and decorative arts from the 19th century to the modern era.

Atkinson has curated shows for the BAM since 2006.

“It makes me proud that no better curator could have taken this position at the Renwick than our very own Nora,” said Stefano Catalani, the BAM’s director of art, craft and design.

Atkinson’s position begins in March.
