Drivers should prepare for delays of up to 30 minutes early Thursday morning when Washington State Department of Transportation bridge crews perform monthly maintenance work on the State Route 520 Evergreen Point floating bridge.

Maintenance openings of the bridge drawspan begin Thursday, May 13 at 2:30 a.m. and end at 5 a.m. During this time, the bridge will close to traffic for up to 30 minutes at a time. Crews will conduct monthly safety checks and test the bridge drawspan to ensure proper working order.

Drivers will be alerted to possible 30 minute delays by electronic signs on highways that lead to the bridge.

Drivers can take I-90 across Lake Washington to avoid a bridge opening. However, drivers should be aware of construction that will close lanes in both directions of I-90 between I-5 and I-405.
