Fire crews responded to late evening fire in East Bellevue on Tuesday where a car was destroyed and a carport heavily damaged by a fire. The fire occurred in a condominium complex in the 200 block of 169th Ave. NE.

The fire was first reported at 10:21 p.m. by the homeowner after he was awakened by the glow of the fire outside. After calling 911, he was able to safely evacuate.

The first-arriving fire crew was able to stop the fire from spreading beyond the carport. However, despite the minimal structural damage there was some smoke damage within the unit.

There is no preliminary cause to report and the homeowner was not sure how the fire could have started.

There were no injuries to either firefighters or residents.
