Interlake High School will play host this week to College Goal Sunday, a free event to help students and parents learn about federal financial aid for college and scholarship opportunities.

The function takes place Jan. 31, beginning at 2 p.m.

The College Goal Sunday program helps individuals and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which unlocks unlocks financial-aid resources such as scholarships and loans for college students.

Federal student loans offer benefits not available through private loans, including low, fixed interest rates; income-based repayment plans; loan forgiveness; and deferment options.

Students who attend College Goal Sunday events and register on theWashBoard.org – a free scholarship clearinghouse for Washington students – will be eligible to win a college scholarship from the Northwest Education Loan Association (NELA).

Four workshop participants will also receive $250 scholarships through a raffle.

Interlake High School is located at 16245 NE 24th Street in Bellevue.

More information about College Goal Sunday events, including additional dates and locations, is available at the College Goal Sunday website.
