Former Bellevue salon owner sentenced for fake Botox injections

A U.S. District Court judge on Friday sentenced former Bellevue beauty salon owner Xin He to 13 months in prison for injecting customers with phony Botox and Restylane that scarred several clients.
He, 46, of Issaquah, ran the Natural Beauty Salon at 11004 NE 11th St.
U.S. District Judge Marsha J. Pechmanon Oct. 30 found He guilty of one count of misbranding of a drug and two counts of receipt and delivery of an adulterated device.
He injected a Snohomish woman with counterfeit Restylane in 2004, according to federal prosecutors. The client's face became inflamed, causing her to seek treatment from a dermatologist, prosecutors said
He is not a doctor or a licensed health-care provider, which means she cannot administer prescription wrinkle-removing drugs like Botox and Restylane.
The state Health Department ordered He to stop administering the counterfeit substances in 2006, but she injected a Bothell woman with fake Restylane in April 2008. That client's face became hard and swollen, causing her to undergo plastic surgery.
Federal agents arrested He Aug. 25 in a crackdown on unlicensed cosmetic treatment practices.
Beauty Life, a salon owned by Jenny Duan, has taken the place of Natural Beauty.
