A chase of a stolen van in Bellevue Friday night ended up with a woman in jail and a man on the run.

Bellevue Police say an officer was doing a routine check of a license plates around 8 p.m. in the Lake Hills area when he discovered a van reported stolen out of Kent. As he was about to make a traffic stop, the van sped away, but quickly spun out of control after careening up a rockery and hitting a parked car.

The van continued, but down a dead-end street, where it went through a fence and hit a tree.

A woman passenger in the van was injured and she was taken to Overlake Hospital. The driver jumped from the van and escaped.
