Burglars forced entry to a Medina house between the hours of 1-2 p.m. Feb. 26 shortly after the home's occupants had left the residence. The break-in occurred in the 2500 block of Medina Circle.

The thieves shattered a glass door before making entry. Items taken from the ransacked home include electronics equipment, jewelry and cash.

Police believe that the thieves backed their getaway vehicle into the victim's garage to load up the stolen items before department.

Initial estimate of loss is approximately $11,000.

Police that the break-in is a continuation of an apparent upward trend of burglaries Medina has experienced dating back to the end of 2008. That time period mirrors the national trend during the poor economy.

Efforts are under way in Medina to install a city public safety camera system that should be operational within the next few months.
