City to offer child care resources if teachers strike

If Bellevue School District teachers vote to strike, the city will support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue’s expanded childcare day camp on Sept. 2 at South Bellevue Community Center.

The city also is prepared to open day camps for children at two other community centers on Thursday, Sept. 4, if the strike continues.

As it becomes available, the latest information about community child care options will be posted on the city’s website, http://www.bellevuewa.gov.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue’s expanded day camp will be open at South Bellevue Community Center, 14509 S.E. Newport Way, for elementary-age children starting Tuesday, Sept. 2, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost will be $40 per day ($20 if already enrolled in Project Learn Afterschool program). Campers will need to bring their own lunch, but snacks will be provided. For registration information, call 425-452-4240.

If needed, day camps also will be provided at two other city community centers for children ages 5-12 starting Sept. 4, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. The cost will be $40 per day; scholarships will be available. Campers will need to bring their own lunch, but snacks will be provided. Space is limited and camps will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will be required and information will be available on the city’s website, or by phone at 452-452-6885.
