UPDATE: Chism Beach Park reopens for swimming

Chism Beach Park has reopened for swimming after a blocked sewer line in Lake Washington was cleared today and test samples taken Monday showed no impact to water quality.

Original Story

A small sewer overflow near Chism Beach Park prompted the closure of its swimming areas on Monday pending the results of testing by King County Water and Land Resources.

In a release issued late Monday, the city of Bellevue states the closure was advised by the Seattle-King County Public Health Department over concerns about water quality at Chism Beach Park. The city's utilities department has addressed the sewer overflow, but the swimming areas in the park will remain closed until water quality is tested to determine whether high bacteria content exists, with results expected within the next 24 hours and testing to continue throughout the week.
