Seen Around: Things we spotted in and around Bellevue

It seems that Bellevue is the place to see Seahawks players. The night before the Sunday, Dec. 29 game, Red Bryant and other defensive linemen came into John Howie Steak to build up their strength. With the result the Hawks got, it must’ve worked. A few night's earlier, Russell Okung dined at Seastar Bellevue. Okung is from Houston and is a Creole spice fan, so Chef Howie made him some Jambalaya.

Speaking of Howie, he and former Seahawk Craig Terrill will be participating in the Taste of the NFL as part of this year's Super Bowl festivities. The Feb. 1 event brings together culinary masters from the nation’s finest restaurants, celebrities and NFL stars to raise money for food banks from each NFL city.

Closer to home, KuKuRuZa gourmet popcorn at Bellevue Square is getting into Seahawks mode with a batch of kettle corn in blue and green colors. It's called Beast Corn popcorn and is in the store and online now until the big game on Sunday, Feb. 2. A one-gallon bag goes for $13.

The Interlake High School boys basketball team was out doing good deeds on Wednesday, Jan. 8, as they served dinner to people in need at the Salvation Army.

Bellevue council member Conrad Lee was in Seattle recently to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of a new Din Tai Fung restaurant at University Village. Bellevue is the home of the restaurant's first location. Like the Bellevue restaurant, there were lines out the door and down the escalator waiting to get in on opening night, Dec. 29.
