Coal Creek Parkway construction changing direction
Coal Creek Parkway will switch lane closures from the eastern portion between Forest Drive Southeast and Southeast 60th Street to the west side starting Wednesday as infrastructure improvements are made ahead of the city of Bellevue's construction of a new bridge.
The city is advising drivers that Olympic Pipeline is continuing its pipe relocation project on the parkway and one lane in each direction is expected to remain open until the beginning of December when all four lanes reopen.
Periodic lane closures will then begin through late February. At that time, Olympic Pipeline will continue completion of its project in order for the city to construct the east half of a new bridge. Lanes will be reduced to one in each direction at that time and until the end of September 2014.
Deterioration of the Coal Creek culvert prompted replacing the bridge, which will include a pedestrian pathway as part of the project that runs under the bridge and connects to the Coal Creek Trail.
