Walk-a-thon raises $40,000 for Aidan, family

More than 1500 people turned out for the third annual Walk for Aidan event last Saturday to support 4-year-old Aidan Leffler who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The walk-a-thon event, held at Sammamish High School and organized by 200 student volunteers, raised more than $40,000. The students original goal was $25,000.
Proceeds will help parents Mitch and Mindy Leffler with their sons medical bills and go towards finding a cure for the fatal disease. Mitch is a Sammamish teacher.
This years event has been the most amazing example of how one small group of students can change the lives of those around them and of those in their community, said Melva Buyers, Sammamish senior and event volunteer.
