Ever want to drive a police car? Now you can.

The Bellevue Police Department is looking for volunteers to help shuttle vehicles for service each weekday morning.

The first requirement is to be an early riser.

Working with another volunteer, each morning the person checks to see which vehicles are listed for service or have completed service, and transport them to and/or from the city’s service facility. The number of hours each morning can vary depending on the number of vehicles needing service, but the assignment time begins between 6:30 and 7 a.m. and typically lasts only an hour or two.

Police officials say it is an ideal volunteer job for a retired person who wants to meet people, stay active and give something back to the people who serve the Bellevue community.

Those interested must have a good driving record and be able to pass a rigorous background investigation along with an annual driving assessment.

Those interested should contact the police department’s volunteer coordinator at 425-452-6017.
