Bellevue student places in writers contest

Yasmin Luthra, a student at Stevenson Elementary School in Bellevue, placed third in the 14th annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest, sponsored by KCTS 9 in Seattle.

The contest, for students in kindergarten through third grade in Washington state and British Columbia involved writing and illustrating a story.

A panel of local teachers and librarians selected the winners, who will receive a prize package of Reading Rainbow books, DVDs, a backpack, art supplies and games, and will have an opportunity to record their story for broadcast on KCTS 9.
