$730,000 raised for Humane Society

Animal lovers raised more than $730,000 for the Bellevue-based Seattle Humane Society at the 19th Annual Tuxes & Tails Celebrity and Pet Fashion Show and Auction in Seattle. Forty local celebrities walked the runway with their own pets and animals available for adoption during the event.

The special “Fund-a-Need” portion of the live auction raised $210,000 to provide rescue, surgery and medical care to dogs suffering from broken bones, bite wounds, and infections. This fund allows the Seattle Humane Society to rescue these dogs from public shelters, and provide them with the medical care they need to be healthy, happy and adoptable.

The $50,000 lead gift for the fund came from Jim and Bet Schuler, and is named in memory of their dog Lexus. The Schulers pledged an additional $80,000 over the next four years to keep the fund going. Donations to the Lexus Fund can be made at www.seattlehumane.org/donate/now.
