Water main break closes road near Tyee Middle School
November 30, 2012 · Updated 10:18 AM
Bellevue utilities crews responded to a water main break Thursday afternoon at the intersection of 139th Avenue Southeast and Southeast Allen Road. Although the water main break did not affect Tyee Middle School, traffic in the area was impacted.
Allen Road at 138th Avenue Southeast and 140th Avenue Southeast was closed so crews could repair the break. Traffic was detoured to SE 40th Street. Crews will check conditions Friday morning and will reopen the road when they determine it is stable and safe for travel.
Eight homes were without water; the city expected service to be restored Thursday evening. There was no major property damage. The cause of the 6” AC water main break is unknown at this time, and crews will be checking the site further for possible causes.
