A 47 year-old Kirkland woman is in stable condition at Overlake Medical Center after a wayward tire smashed through her windshield and landed in the passenger seat of her car on Tuesday morning.

Anita Manueltiqui of Kirkland was driving westbound on SR-520 near the 92nd AVE N.E. exit when a tire, with part of the rim still attached, broke loose from a trailer being towed by a pickup truck and ended up inside her vehicle.

The pickup was headed eastbound at the time and the driver stopped at the scene. Washington State Troopers are investigating whether to pursue charges against the 39 year-old Tacoma man driving the pickup, which was towing a flatbed trailer loaded with some 2000 pounds of equipment.
