A 17-year-old employee of the Golf Club at Newcastle was taken to Harborview Medical Center after he rolled his golf cart down an eight-foot embankment Thursday morning.

"He was evidently backing his golf cart up, and either a tire or something went over a stair or embankment that caused the cart to roll," said Bellevue Fire Department spokesman Lt. Troy Donlin.

The boy was trapped underneath the cart and rescued by the Bellevue Fire Department before being taken to the hospital. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m.

Donlin said the employee lost consciousness initially, but was awake when rescue officials arrived.

He suffered injuries, the extent of which are unknown, Bellevue Fire officials said.
