February 9, 2011 · 10:14 AM
Drivers headed across the State Route 520 Evergreen Point Floating Bridge should plan ahead for delays Thursday morning. Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) crews will close all westbound lanes for construction and intermittently close the eastbound lanes for maintenance.
Tonight, all lanes of westbound SR 520 from 92nd Avenue N.E. to Montlake Boulevard will close for tolling equipment installation. The first lane will close at 11 p.m. and the second lane will close at 11:59 p.m. The first lane will reopen at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Starting at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, crews will conduct intermittent rolling slowdowns on eastbound SR 520 over the floating bridge for maintenance work. During this time, drivers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes while crews test the bridge systems and drawspan to make sure they are in working order.
The work is expected to conclude by 5 a.m. Drivers will be alerted to delays by electronic signs on highways leading to the bridge.
