January 28, 2011 · 3:14 PM
A state senator from Kirkland has filed to challenge U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert for his Eighth District congressional seat. The district includes Bellevue and other Eastside cities.
Rep. Roger Goodman (D-Kirkland) is the first candidate to file with the Federal Election Commission to challenge Reichert, a Republican.
Goodman won his 45th District legislative seat two months ago for the third time.
Reichert, who beat former Microsoft executive Suzan DelBene in November, is currently serving his fourth term. He has not announced yet if he will run again for the congressional seat in 2012.
Goodman has launched a Web site that announces his intent to run for the 8th District. For more information, visit www.rogergoodmanforcongress.com.
