Gordon narrows deficit in 41st District race | Updated election results

As the final votes come in for the 2010 General election, very few races remain in contention.

Several that appeared to be close on election night have become clear in the following days. But a couple spots remain up for grabs.

Steve Litzow's lead over State Sen. Randy Gordon in the 41st Legislative District is slipping by the day.

Litzow began the election with a 53-47 percent margin, but it has been shrinking ever since. Gordon is now 336 votes behind Litzow (50.3 percent to 49.7 percent) with more than 55,000 votes counted.

Currently, the race is near position for a recount, which requires the margin between two candidates to be less than 2,000 votes or .5 percent of the total votes cast in the race. With the number of votes cast thus far, .5 percent equates to 277 votes.

The race between Litzow and Gordon is the only one in the 41st District still unresolved. Incumbent Reps. Judy Clibborn and Marcie Maxwell both hold comfortable leads in their races.

Many incumbent Democrats were helped by late arriving ballots. As ballots continue to roll in, voter turnout is exceeding projections. The King County Elections Office projected a turnout of 68 percent, but as of Wednesday night, more than 70 percent of ballots have come in. In the 41st and 48th Legislative Districts, which each encompass portions of Bellevue, turnout has exceeded the county average. In the 41st, 72.36 ballots have been returned, while 71.72 ballots in the 48th have been received.
