Firefighters from Bellevue and Renton battled a raging fire on a tour bus Tuesday morning on northbound I-405 near Newcastle.

No one was hurt during the incident.

The blaze started around 6:30 a.m., and the bus was almost fully involved in fire when crews arrived at the scene. Flames had also spread to surrounding vegetation.

The bus was empty except for the driver, who said he heard a popping sound, and then discovered the fire after stopping the bus, according to Lt. Eric Keenan, spokesman for the Bellevue Fire Department.

The bus was destroyed, with the loss listed at $200,000.

A Bellevue Fire Department battalion chief on his way to work was the first person to respond to the fire, according to Keenan.

In all, two Bellevue fire engines and one ladder truck responded to the incident, along with one Renton fire engine.
