Bellevue City Council OKs money for arts

The Bellevue City Council on Monday, Feb. 24, allocated funds to 11 organizations that support the arts, as well as funds for 25 special projects.

 

The Bellevue City Council on Monday, Feb. 24, allocated funds to 11 organizations that support the arts, as well as funds for 25 special projects.

All told, the council approved $110,000 for 2014, including $83,000 for organizations and $27,000 for projects. Funding amounts range from $500 to $18,000.

Among the special projects to receive funding is the Seattle International Film Festival ($2,500), which will show 50 screenings of films in Bellevue, with appearances from filmmakers. The films will be shown at Lincoln Square Cinemas, and an estimated 8,000 people are expected to attend.
