Paintings by Jaime Ellsworth coming to Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery
June 25, 2010 · 3:15 PM
New paintings by Friday Harbor artist Jaime Ellsworth will be on display at the Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery from July 14 to August 9.
Simple forms are consistent in all of Ellsworth's artwork and she enjoys working in series offering relationships, discovery and contrasts.
She creates visual situations from everyday experiences and observations. One of those situations is a series of paintings based on Pagau, the dog they adopted from China and his experiences in the Western World.
Other of Ellsworth’s paintings are built of many thin layers of oil bar starting with a limited palette of bold colors on large canvases or wood panels. Subsequent layers allow the under paint to peek through and transparent glazes give the final surface a subtle tint.
An artist reception will be held from 6-8 p.m on Wednesday, July 14 at the gallery, 800 Bellevue Way Northeast #111, Bellevue, 425-827-2822.
