Using oil paints as well as pen and ink, Judy Selogy creates highly stylistic paintings, often using vivid colors and geometric forms to pour her emotions onto the canvas. While tending towards the abstract, many of the works convey landscapes and natural themes.

An exhibit of Selogy’s work, "Diving Into the Deep End," will be shown June 7 to July 10 at Pogacha of Issaquah, 120 NW Gilman Blvd. The show will move to Pogacha of Bellevue, 119 106th Ave. NE, on July 10 and will run through Aug. 21.

“I’m very drawn to a blank canvas,” Selogy explains. “It is so compelling that I cannot wait to put something on it. I never really know what I’m going to do until I start painting.”

While never formally educated in art, Selogy dabbled in charcoal and figure painting classes while in college, but did not pick up the brush again until 20 years later, post-divorce and ready to let her artistic flair resurface.

Working in escrow at a law firm by day, Selogy later lets her creative juices flow in the spare bedroom of her apartment. In the future, she aspires to own a studio and gallery. Selogy started Red Fish Art Works in 2005 and strives to get more exposure as her collection grows.
