Bellevue novelist Fernandes wins national award

Jessie Irene Fernandes of Bellevue has received an honorable mention for her novel, The Wise Child, in the National Federation of Press Women communications contest.

She received a first place for her work in the organization’s state competition.

Her award will be presented Sept. 11-13 at the group’s annual conference in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
