BCCs vocal jazz ensemble readies homecoming concert

Celebration!, Bellevue Community Colleges nationally-honored vocal jazz ensemble, has been pleasing audiences for 35 years. Now, they extend an invitation to all Celebration! alumni and the entire community to help celebrate this milestone at the ensembles spring vocal jazz concert on Friday, May 30.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Carlson Theatre, located in the E Building on BCCs main campus (3000 Landerholm Circle S.E., Bellevue, at the intersection of S.E. 28th St. and 148th Ave. S.E.).

In the past five years alone, the 17-member Celebration! jazz choir has won first place four times in the College Vocal and Jazz Combo divisions at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the largest such event in the world. The choir also has won multiple first place awards at the University of Nevada Jazz Festival, and has frequently won competitions for the honor of performing at annual conferences of the National Jazz Educators Association (twice) and the International Association for Jazz Education (five times).
Celebration! is directed by BCC Music Department Chairman Thomas Almli.
