Choral music, lots of jazz coming up at Bellevue College

Oct. 29

Choral music – Bellevue Acappella Fall Concert: 7:30 p.m. Carlson Theatre, Bellevue College. Admission $7, available at brownpapertickets.com or 1-800-838-3006.

Directed by Julie Denninghoff, Bellevue College’s select Bellevue Acappella chamber choir presents a program of songs by Nathaniel Harnack, Eric Clapton and BC student, Chris Amico.

Big band jazz: Bellevue College Jazz Band at Tula’s, 8 p.m. at Tula’s, 2214 Second Ave., Seattle. Call Tula’s at 206-443-4221 for reservations. The Bellevue College Jazz Band, directed by Northwest jazz legend Hal Sherman, performs at Tula’s, one of Seattle’s top jazz night clubs.

Big band jazz: Bellevue College Jazz Band Fall Invitational, 7:30 p.m. at Carlson Theatre, Bellevue College. Admission $8 ($6 students and seniors), available beginning Nov. 1 at brownpapertickets.com or 1-800-838-3006. Bellevue College’s Jazz Band, under the direction of Northwest jazz legend Hal Sherman, will perform, with the Bellevue High School jazz band as guest artists.

Nov. 23

Vocal jazz: College Jazz Summit, 7:30 p.m. at Carlson Theatre, Bellevue College. Admission $3, available at the door. Bellevue College’s award-winning Celebration! vocal jazz ensemble, under the direction of Thomas Almli, will perform and host top ensembles from other regional colleges as guest artists.

Nov. 30

Small-Combo Jazz: A Night of New and Classic Jazz, 7:30 p.m. at Carlson Theatre, Bellevue College. Admission $5, available beginning Nov. 1 at brownpapertickets.com or 1-800-838-3006, and at the door. Bellevue College jazz students present a program of standards and forward-looking jazz in a series of small-combo performances. Music by Thelonuis Monk, Wes Montgomery, Richie Beirach, Jaco Pastorius, Joe Henderson and others will be included.

Dec. 3

Vocal jazz: Bellevue College Vocal Jazz Fall Invitational, 7:30 p.m. at Carlson Theatre, Bellevue College. Bellevue College’s award-winning Celebration! vocal jazz ensemble, under the direction of Thomas Almli, will perform, with the Meadowdale High School vocal jazz ensemble as guest artists.

Dec. 11

Choral music: "Sounds of the Season,” 7:30 p.m. at Daniel’s Recital Hall, 811 Fifth Ave, downtown Seattle.

Admission $10, available at brownpapertickets.com (1-800-838-3006), and at the door, Hear the Bellevue College Concert Chorale and Celebration! jazz ensemble, both under the direction of Thomas Almli, and the college’s Bellevue Acappella chamber choir, under the direction of Julie Denninghoff, in a concert that will feature Vivaldi’s Gloria.
