Training event set Saturday for 2010 Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure

Spring training has begun, but not the kind that involves a pitching mound.

It is time once again to whip out that pink feather boa and matching pink walking shoes to begin training for the 2010 Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure.

The 3-Day encourages participants to begin training months in advance to physically prepare their bodies for the three day, 60-mile walk. The Seattle 3-Day is scheduled for September 24-26.

The official training kick-off event will take place on Saturday, April 17, from 7:30-11 a.m., in Bellevue.

Participants should plan to meet at the New Balance store in Bellevue Square (Northeast Eighth And Bellevue Way) for an early morning 3.1 mile walk on sidewalks through local neighborhoods. Use the mall's southwest entrance next to the Ann Taylor store. Once inside use the stairs to the second level and look for 3-Day for the Cure signs.

An informational footwear clinic will be held at New Balance following the training walk.

Registration is still open for the 2010 Seattle 3-Day for the Cure. For more information, visit The3Day.org.
